Advent Day 4

December is one of the only times in the year that we let the children eat chocolate for breakfast, and no modern advent calendar seems to be without these delicious chocolatey offerings.

Day 4 of Julie's Scrapbook Advent Calendar is Advent Chocolate.

This year our advent chocolates come courtesy of Chocolate Designs by Sarah as part of a swap.
Sarah-Beth made me three sets of advent chocolates

individually wrapped and a box of truffle chocolates just for me

and this fabulous chocolate house that Tomas and I are going to build just before Christmas.

In return I made her a chocolates fabric apron

a Minecraft apron

and two minecraft cushions.

Day 4 of Brenda's Restoring Your Joy of Christmas is  "Enjoy It".
I think I enjoy Christmas much more now I have eased off on my expectations of Christmas. When the children were small I wanted things to be perfect for them but now I realise there is no such thing as the perfect Christmas it is just about enjoying the day, going with the flow, both the good and the bad and marvelling in the magical moments.
A few years ago we were all really ill on Christmas Day we all had stinking rotten colds but because it was Christmas and things are supposed to be done a certain way I wanted us to all still have our Christmas dinner. You can clearly see in the photos from that day that we should have all be in bed not sitting around the dinner table in our pyjamas trying to force a turkey dinner down. Needless to say none of us could eat a thing and it was all given to the dogs and I think eventually we did all go to bed very early. I'd like to think that if that happened now I would just think let's do Christmas tomorrow or the next day when we are all feeling better and just make the most of being together today.

  3. That apron is great. I have a little bit of that fabric, not enough for a big project but perhaps it could be added to an apron I have been asked to make. :) Thank you for the inspiration. :)
