A giveaway win....

Thank you for all your lovely comments on my bargain charity shop find hexagon quilt. It was interesting to hear that some of you recognised fabrics from dresses that you wore in the 70's and the memories behind the girl guide badges. How amazing that a quilt an evoke so many memories and hopefully after its been cleaned and repaired it will continue to give memories to our family too.

I hope you are all keeping well during this horrible weather, I'm am still very much in hibernation mode and as much as the rain is awful we have been very lucky in this part of the country with very minimal flooding and my heart goes out to those badly effected by the floods.

We have seen the sun several times in the past week and boy has it made a difference and although it is still pretty nippy out there we did manage to venture out in the garden to clean the car.

The snowdrops

and the daffodils (standing like soldiers)

seem to think that spring is just around the corner - I do hope so!

So do you want to see my giveaway win??
Back at the beginning of January PJ over at The Snail Garden celebrated her 6th blogiversary and decided to hold a giveaway, I was lucky enough to be picked out as the winner.

On friday my giveaway win parcel arrived and this is what I found inside.

How cute is this teddy bear label.

and lovely neat handwriting too!

and inside was this beautiful and delicate crocheted doily.

 Isn't it beautiful,

intricate

and stunning!

PJ also included some very delicious all butter shortbread biscuits and some tasty twinings tea.

Thank you so much PJ I have now found just the spot for the doily and will share a photo of it very soon.

Cheering Myself Up

I've been feeling really bleurgh today! I'm full of a summer head cold and feeling very sorry for myself, Paul has been looking after me, and after sleeping for most of the day I am now feeling a bit more human!!! So to cheer myself up I thought I would post some pictures of the lovely things I have received in the post recently.
I was lucky to be the winner of a birthday giveaway Gill was running over at Dosie Rosie
Pretty packages tied up with string..
with cute teeny tiny crochet flowers
Gill sent me three things for my workroom
Sunlight, Fluid and Sustenance

Sunlight - this pretty glass star suncatcher
Fliud - a starry Cath Kidston mug

Sustenance - a cute lunch bag
My suncatcher is now proudly displayed in my workroom, I have enjoyed many a lovely cup of tea in my new mug and shall be trying out my lunch bag on our next picnic.....thank you Gill for such lovely gifts.

I have been popping back into the Misi forums lately and back in May signed up to take part in the red, white and blue themed swap. I received this very pretty necklace from the lovey Karen of Just K Jewellery. It's made from a pretty blue and white liberty print and is just gorgeous - thanks Karen.

Well that definitely cheered me up seeing all those lovely gifts, but now my head feels like it is full of cotton wool so I shall head off to bed shortly, I'm on strict instructions not to sit up and watch Big Brother, but I'm not sure I can do it!!!!

Spring Giveaway Day 4 & 5

This is my catch up blog from yesterday so here we have goodies for Day 4 (yesterday) and Day 5 (today)

A giveaway wouldn't be complete without chocolate so when I spied these Springtime mini figures in my local Co-Op I knew they were just the ticket!!!

Day 5 saw me trawling the GREENMETROPOLIS site (if you're an avid reader (buyer of books - Justine from Down to Earth with a Bump) like me it's a great place to recycle/buy/sell books) I was trying to find a Spring titled book and as I'd spent the past few days checking the shelves of our local charity shops where I couldn't find anything with Spring in the title, not even a gardening book, Greenmetropolis came to my rescue and I found this book

Here's the blurb as my kids would say!!!

When Lou Winter picks up a dog-eared magazine in the dentist's waiting room and spots an article about clearing clutter, she little realises how it will change her life. What begins as an earnest spring clean soon spirals out of control. Before long Lou is hiring skips in which to dump the copious amounts of junk she never knew she had. Lou's loved ones grow disgruntled. Why is clearing out cupboards suddenly more important than making his breakfast, her husband Phil wonders? The truth is, the more rubbish Lou lets go of, the more light and air can get to those painful, closed-up places at the centre of her heart: the love waiting for a baby she would never have, the empty space her best friend Deb once occupied, and the gaping wound left by her husband's affair. Even lovely Tom Broom, the man who delivers Lou's skips, starts to grow concerned about his sweetest customer. But Lou is a woman on a mission, and not even she knows where it will end ...
So a Spring Affair is winging it's way to me as we speak (obviously this will cause a little delay in sending out the parcel but hopefully it will all be worth waiting for!!!!

I thought I'd do a little reminder as to what we have so far....

I still have two more days to go before my birthday so will be adding more goodies tomorrow and Monday.
Closing date for entry is midnight on Monday 7th March and I will pick a name out of the hat on Tuesday.
To enter just leave a comment and for an extra go just take the spring giveaway button in my sidebar and add it to your blog....
