I was going to treat myself to some of those new fan dangled pom pom makers
after reading about them over on Nana Go Go's blog,
as I fancied making a garland
or maybe even a cushion
snow ball anyone???
They even do heart shaped ones
and I really love this "big boy" swag garland!!
But it nows seems that the worlds and his wife want them as Kirstie Allsop showed them on her programme last night (I didn't see it myself).
Is it just me or have the pom pom makers lost their appeal now everyone will have one???
I'm the same with most things that become popular or the "in thing" to have, it just makes me want them even less!!
So perhaps I will wait for the buying frenzy to calm down and buy them second hand on ebay once the novelty has worn off!!! Or Kirstie decides what the next best thing is!

I know exactly what you mean! They are cheap enough on eBay so I will probably get a set simply because it will be an easy, portable project to take to the local sewing bee.
ReplyDeleteI have one of those, I have the teeny tiny one to use with stranded embroidery thread. I didn't watch Kirstie Allsop either, did I miss anything.......?

I don't watch it julie find her a bit patronising!!
DeleteI don't watch Kirstie as she gets on my wick somewhat. Some of the things she makes I feel are rather 'tacky' and as you say once she has a go then it appears everywhere. Good idea, wait a while and then do your own thing. I like your snowball idea - pretty cute, especially if it had a teeny bit of glitter in the wool.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad it's not just me who finds her everso slightly annoying!! I'm all for encouraging crafing but argghhh! She gets on my wick too!
DeleteI like the idea about the glitter snowballs I will have to keep my eye out for some glittery wool
Tracy xx
I featured pom pom makers on my blog back in 2008 or there abouts so I got there before Kirstie but without the cameras!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun to make and I did sit down and make enough large ones to make an eye catching of not very warm, scarf. On blog as well.
Ideal for using up scraps.
Oh trust her!!Anyway, she's a bit late coming to the party. Those in the know have known about them for ages and are glad to pass on their marvellous capabilities! The woman's clearly all fur coat and no knickers and has far,far too much time on her hands!!Get thyself a pom-pom maker Tracy, the world's your oyster then!
