Advent - Day 2

Joining in with Julie's Advent Calendar over at Julie's Scrapbook by posting a photo every day throughout Advent.

Day 2

For the past few years I've been collecting Christmas and Winter themed books and during Advent I wrap 24 of them and Master Madaboutbags gets to choose one each day which we share at bedtime. Some are old favourites and some are new charity shop buys, I even picked up four more this afternoon so we have some new ones for next year.
I'm not sure how much longer Master Madaboutbags will want to do this (I'm hoping that I have at least another year) but I think this will be a family tradition to pass down, so after Christmas the books will be carefully stored away until next year.
Do you have any Christmas family traditions?

  1. I did the Advent books for my grandchildren this year. Picked up a load of great books throughout the year in charity shops, some of the books hadn't even been opened, you could tell by the way the pages turned. I even picked up the first eight books in the original format of Thomas the Tank stories so my grandson will be pleased.

    1. I think I will continue to collect them as I don't know how many sets I will need in the future, what lucky finds I bet you can't wait to see your grandson's face when he see the Thomas the Tank Engine stories.

  2. I think that's a really lovely tradition. I always bought a special Christmas story book for Christmas Eve when my kids were young but they'd have loved this idea through advent. How I wish I still had young ones here, the magic does go out of Christmas somewhat when the kids are grown up.
